hey all.just dropping a few notes heh.so far its been nice around here in lovely tikrit.but just recently we've suffered a blow.we lost a kid on perimeter patrol.IED.dam thing was well hidden.it struck the hummv hard.three made it out but the one got locked inside.some .50 cal rounds then cooked off inside.nothing any could have done then.he was young.too dam young so its hit us all hard here.so if any of you are the parying type well send a few his way to his folks.talk about reality hitting home.he was a good kid.sorry to drop such heavy stuff on you guys.just figured you might want to know how we got it over here.take care guys.i promise my next post will be on a happier note.

well hiyas fellas.it has been awhile since i lasted posted.things here got wild couple weeks ago.but all is well.my hmmv patrol crew and i just got off some R&R we where given a week ago by the powers that be heh.much needed id say after what we went thru ; ).lets see how should i start this tale...it was a dark and stor...bleh its been done already hah.well guys here its goes.the first ever published adventure of the Glamorous Betty!
If i may introduce Betty to you all.she is our crew's patrol hmmv out here.she was what we got when we landed here as far as our missions would go.she was spankin new.fresh off the line and fully armored out of california.she was a beut!truely a nice way to roll around here heh.and as crews went around here it was customary for said crew to name their rides.so we pondered long and hard and finally settled for Glamorous Betty.we where going for that 50's style with the pin up girl painted on the side and all.the one artist of our crew did a great job on this.a sweet blonde in a pink one peice.the name was done in yellow.we went around like this foe about a week before we where told the blonde had to go.something about not offending the locals and all.so we painted over here and the name had to be standard army colors.black, olive drab,tan..get the idea?but glamorous she still was.she was our lady and she always brought us back safe.which is what she did yet agian not long ago. not long i told you all how we lost a one of our own.we also lost that PH.my crew and i volunteered to take up here duties soon after.it was how we ended up on that particularly long escort out of kuwait.it was a line of 8 trucks with various types of cargo.one PH rolled in the rear and the Betty took lead.the PH in the rear by the way was named Tamale heh.fun crew.any who...all was peaches and cream up till about 1 hr from our destination.it was night time by then but the moon offered enough light.about a mile ahead of us the road curved to the right slightly.about the time the lead truck began to make the turn the desert lit up.a small element opened fire on the lead truck.thankfully it had a fully armored cab.but they blew the left tire.in such situations the truck could have still gunned it with a flat but the driver could nt hold her straight and veered to the right into the soft moonlike dirt.the truck plowed.the Betty raced to the lead.we where besides the 3rd truck when all this happened.as we approached the heads of those firing at us began poping up and thanks to the moonlight they became nice targets.so the Betty opened up a can!our turret held a SAW gun.our plan waqs to get the Betty's armor infront of the lead truck.that plan became all the more the best one when when our driver spotted a large puff of white smoke in the distance.and RPG had been fired.all we heard inside was him yelling to us to brace for impact.he took us directly into its path which was dead on to the disabled truck.i'll tell you all this now,if any of you have ever been in a fender bender, you know that initial hard ass jolt you get, well thats pretty much it.by a factor of 10.i never really heard any sound.just the impact.lost my hearing the instant it struck the front of the Betty.needless to say we where all dazed inside.we where later told by our gunner that he too saw the rocket coming at us.says he tried to gun it down while in flight.i can only imagine that had he succeded he would have been officially been crowned "Da Man!" the tale of his prowess would be told by many in story and song.never would he have had to buy another beer.Ever!but d**n it he missed!hah.heck, hes just happy to be known as the guy who knew when to duck.as for the Betty, she came thru for us once agian.the rpg took out her engine.so out PH was now a pillbox.our gunner got hot and heavy on it.the Tamale came in hot!heh.seemed those idiots only had one rpg.the Betty lasted all of 5 minutes as a pillbox.a wolf pack was on the prowl in the area.err patrol heh.a wolf pack being 4 apache helicopters.those of us that could still hear swore they hear Mighty Mouse in the distance heh.once the birds opened up those not a very nice persons made like the french.our prize that nite was 7 not a very nice persons.what was left of 22.after things quieted down we began to notice amongst us that we where hurt to a certain extent.gradually the adrenaline began to wear off and the "ouch!" factor began to set in.me because of the ringing in my ears had a hard time keeping my balance after a bit.the impact gave our driver a hellacious black eye and a cool lookin scar on his left cheek.he plans to abuse said scar with the ladies once we make it back to the states.the fellas in the rear where nicely strapped in so they suffered only mild concusions and scars.our gunner unfortunately rattled around inside after he ducked.he cut his leg kinda deep and didnt notice the blood until a medic shined a light on the very dark stain on his leg.hard core if you ask me heh.yup.soon after all this we where flown out.it was the that we got a firts good look at the Betty.none of us said a word but it was sad.her whole front end looked like a rolled up tin of sardines.i know it was just a PH to most others but she was our lady.after all the previous crap we had gone thru it hurt to see her that way.from up on high we saluted the Glamorous Betty. we spent about 5 days at the hospital.everyone gradually healed up.even my hearing was comin back in small doses.our batt.comm.came by to see us that day.a whole lotta well done and all thats jazz.mind you he was blowing smoke or nothing.he was all genuine.good man.he asked if we had called home and all that.made sure no one was worried.he got the right answers.but our driver had one question os his own burning for the past 5 days.wheres Betty.he lit up when the col. told him that she hadnt been scrapped.she had been taken back to her motorpool.her motorpool.where a private had taken an unusual devotion to being her machanic.we knew she was pissed. we ran into her a couple days before we went on our R&R.ordered by the boss heh.after chewing us out for the Betty she then sat with us and we told her the story.afterwards she surprised us by telling us that she was going to fix up the Betty.apparantly she suddenly had mad resources at her disposal.woot!heh.thats what went thru my head.the unveiling would take place once we returned from vacation heh.we went off and had our fun in Doha quatar.once we returned and settled we went for our Betty.boy oh boy heh.what a Betty!hah.she looked like nothing had happened to her.all we saw was upgrades.lots of em : ).brand new armor, new run flat tires, new system of flare dispensers at 4 points,a badass engine with a supercharger,a new turret with a 50 cal. machine gun at the 12 position and a SAW at the 6.a new bumper designed to ram...gently nudge other veichles off the road and inside a slew of brand new electronics.this my friends was Betty on steroids!we stood there in awe.the only one who spoke was our driver."Shes gorgeous!".we agreed whole hartedly.our artist took a brush and paint and went to work.Gorgeous Betty.she was now one of few PH incorporating all new hardware for the field. and so after a few days of schooling on the new gear we have taken to the road agian.Betty makin her presence louder and meaner than before.and heck heh what woman wouldnt?you know what they say...Hell hath no furry...
